I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work within the composites sector for my IACMI internship with Vartega this summer. My decision to pursue engineering, and materials engineering specifically, was driven by my passion for sustainability and environmentalism. The composites industry, and Vartega in particular, is on the cutting edge of technology that promote sustainable materials and progressive advancements. It is truly inspiring that recycled carbon fiber is being used for sporting goods applications and that the use of composites in the automotive industry is influencing the viability of long-range electric cars. My experience working with Vartega was extremely rewarding knowing that the work I did could support advancements in using sustainable carbon fiber for compounding and injection molding applications.
